Session Description: In recent years, Generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, CoPilot, and Perplexity have made waves across industries. Several Continuing Professional Development (CPD) conferences have explored how Generative AI (GenAI) can advance CPD functions like marketing, needs assessment, and compliance management. Yet one powerful opportunity remains underutilized: the Personalized CPD Chatbot. Imagine an AI “assistant for CPD” that helps craft user-friendly web content, presents a first draft of needs assessment, brainstorms best content formats and streamlines key workflows. Our session will tackle a central question: Can CPD teams leverage a CPD Chatbot to drive impact across multiple CPD use cases? Through hands‑on cases and best-practice discussions, the attendees will learn the steps involved in building a CPD Chatbot and determine its applicability across their own CPD setting. The session will explore various off the shelf tools available in building a Chatbot.
In this workshop, the attendees will be introduced to the five-step process of building a personalized CPD Chatbot:
Step 1: Identify:
Define targeted CPD use cases—like evaluation summaries, virtual patient creation, or email assistance—to ensure meaningful impact.
Our interactive session will start with four CPD applications for a personalized CPD chatbot. Together, participants will identify and work through the following use case in small teams:
Evaluation Analysis: Learn how craft efficient prompts to analyze participant feedback and quickly generate concise evaluation summaries.
Learning
Design: See how to co-create virtual patient case studies, drawing on Generative AI to build immersive learning scenarios.
Communication Support: Explore using GenAI tools like CoPilot to draft personalized emails and transform inbox content into actionable to-do lists.
Brainstorming & Idea Generation: Use the chatbot to ideate fresh educational formats including novel webinar structures or interactive workshops.
Each group will practice crafting prompts and reviewing AI outputs, sharpening their ability to define suitable use cases within real-world CPD environments. By the end of this segment, attendees will not only recognize key automation opportunities but also gain hands-on experience deploying GenAI tools in everyday tasks.
Step 2: Optimize
Apply advanced prompt-engineering strategies such as role/specification prompts, few-shot examples, and iterative refinement to enhance response quality.
Step 3: Chatbot Selection, Ingest Data Sources
The faculty members will explore some Chatbot tools available in the market. We will then discuss the process of importing data into the specific Chatbot. For example, safely feed in evaluation forms, case templates, or communication logs, while ensuring alignment with your organization’s AI and data policies.
Step 4: Customize Tone & Build a Minimum Viable Product (MVP):
We will explore ways to teach the chatbot your preferred tone, branding, and level of formality, then deploy a minimum viable product.
Step 5: Measure & Iterate:
The attendees will learn to track key metrics such as response accuracy, task completion rate, user satisfaction, and time saved to assess effectiveness and support continuous enhancement; then expand to new use cases over time.
